KASC Target Selection: Specific
Targets Q6
Deadline: 7
April 2010
Only WG
chairs may submit proposals
The
present page and documents on this page is intended to provide the needed
instructions for members of the Kepler Asteroseismic Science Consortium (KASC)
working groups to take part in the target selection procedure and ensure an
optimum selection of targets for the second phase of the KAI observations; the
specific target observing phase.
As stated in the KAI/KASC Organization and Schedule document (DASC/KASOC/0013) it is the responsibility of the Working Groups (WG)
to submit proposals for the KAI specific target phase following the survey
phase. The WG chairs will be responsible for the proposals and need to ensure
that the ideas covering research done by all individuals within the WG are
represented in the target proposals. The WG is also responsible for providing
priorities (including justification) between different targets within a given proposal
and between submitted proposals.
Prioritized
lists of targets selected for Q5 contains 1492 targets for Long Cadence (90 d)
and 447 targets for Short Cadence (3 x
30 d).Both lists can also be downloaded in ascii-format: Q5 long and Q5 short
The
target selection for specific targets is scheduled as:
The KAI
programme can only select targets that are on the Kepler asteroseismic target list. This list is released
together will the present call and no target that is not on this list is
allowed to be selected as a KAI specific target.
Details
on the KASC Target Selection procedure can be found in the document: DASC/KASOC/0023. Note that the
deadline for the WG chairs to submit target proposals is 7 April 2010. The Template for submission of targets can also be
